SEMBLANZA:
Vanessa Freitag es una artista originaria de Brasil que radica ytrabaja en León/Guanajuato/México. Tiene formación en Artes Plásticas yen Educación Artística (Brasil) y un posgrado en Antropología Social (México).En la actualidad, combina la práctica docente con la artística, donde realizainvestigación a través del lenguaje textil contemporáneo. Los temas de interésgiran en torno a los oficios artesanales y al estudio del paisaje natural,donde a la vez, piensa su identidad como migrante. Ha participado deexposiciones individuales, entre las cuales, se mencionan las más recientes:“Topiarius” (SESC Pulsar Três Rios/Rio de Janeiro/Brasil), “ConfabularCotidianos” (Galería ACHE/San Luis Potosí/SLP), “Matriciales”(San LuisPosotí/SLP); y colectivas en Brasil, Colombia, Chile, México, Puerto Rico,Estados Unidos, Rumania y Ucrania. Recibió el 2o lugar en escultura en la IIIBienal Olga Costa (2023,Guanajuato); el 1er lugar en la categoría escultura enel IV Salón de Arte Contemporáneo de Guanajuato (2021, Irapuato/México) y enFIBRA - Bienal de Arte Têxtil (2019, Porto Alegre/Brasil). En 2020, realizó unaresidencia de producción de obra en Residencia Art Project (Playa delCarmen/México) y en Proyecto ACE (Argentina) y Residencial Pastizal(Pigué/Argentina, 2023).
BIO:
VanessaFreitag is from Brazil, based in Leon/Guanajuato/Mexico, where she lives andworks. Currently, she combines teaching with artistic practice, where shedevelops research on contemporary textile language. The topics of interest revolve around Mexicancrafts and the study of the natural landscape, where at the same time, shethinks about her identity as a migrant. She has participated in soloexhibitions, which the most recent are: “Topiarius” (SESC Pulsar Três Rios/Riode Janeiro/Brazil); “Confabular Cotidianos” (Galería Ache/San Luis Potosi/SLP);“Matriciales” (San Luis Potosí/SLP). Also, groups exhibitions in Brazil,Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, United States, Romania and Ukraine. Shehas received prizes as the 2nd place in sculpture at the III OlgaCosta Biennial (2023, Guanajuato), 1st place in the sculpture at theIV Salón de Arte Contemporáneo de Guanajuato (2021, Irapuato), and finally,honorable mention at FIBRA- Bienal de Arte Têxtil (2019, Porto Alegre/Brazil).In 2020, she completed a work production residency at Residencia Art Project(Playa del Carmen/Mexico); at Proyecto ACE (Buenos Aires/Argentina) andResidencial Pastizal (Pigué/Argentina).
